12″ Multipurpose Loudspeaker

The Magnus 12 is a bi-functional premium class loudspeaker system incorporating a 12″ neodymium low-mid transducer and a 1.4″ exit neodymium high frequency driver. Its high frequency horn has been designed using latest BEM (boundary element method) techniques and has an extremely homogeneous directivity pattern of 75° x 50°. It is rotatable by 90° to get a 50° x 75° pattern.

The Magnus series has been engineered for semi-active drive and thus unites the economic advantages of a passively crossed over loudspeaker with the sound quality, reliability and performance of an actively (i.e. DSP) controlled system. Its internal passive network provides optimal frequency division and phase alignment of both ways, and thus excellent directivity characteristics. Equalization, speaker protection and powering is provided through the AD-Systems DSP and amplifiers.

The elegant, asymmetrical enclosure of the Magnus systems is available as left and right version and is covered with a robust Polyurea coating. Its multi-functional design allows operation on poles or loudspeaker stands, suspended (with bracket) or as stage monitor wedge.  For flexible connection there are two Speakon NL4 sockets on the rear, as well as one NL4 socket on top and bottom sides, respectively.

We listened to the Flex 12 and Magnus 12 in direct comparison. We were surprised at how well the much cheaper Flex 12 performed compared to the Magnus. In the end, however, we opted for the Magnus 12 because it reproduced instruments and speech even more authentically and because the guys from AD-Systems provided us with presets for our existing amplifiers. Without having to buy new amplifiers, we were able to invest the money we saved in better speakers. Thank you!

At the product presentation, I was amazed by the MG 12's enormous resistance to coupling! Even trying to hold a Beta 58 microphone directly to the loudspeaker grille made absolutely no difference...! Simply nothing at all...! Only the view from Oliver was good

Great wedges...extremely reliable (never had a defect), stable design, very loud, and therefore very powerful even at high stage volumes. Equalized with NT4 controllers and reliably protected against overload, the cabinets have been doing their job for us for years!
